NOTE: Resetting an account password offsite will be delayed by syncing across the servers.

  • Off network password resets are changed on the Microsoft servers first, then they need to sync with the Active Directory servers causing the delay.
  • In some cases SBG specific programs can take 30 minutes or more to register the new password (OSI, Bridge, SPA, Citrix Receiver).
  • Most Microsoft applications will take the new password right away.
  • Your computer will continue to use your old password until you are able to connect to the VPN and allow the new password to sync from Active Directory.

Password Requirements

Passwords must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Cannot be one of the last 24 passwords used
  • Not contain acct name or parts of full name
  • Be at least ten characters in length
  • Contain characters from three of the following
    1. Uppercase characters (A through Z)
    2. Lowercase characters (a through z)
    3. Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    4. Special characters (example: !, $, #, %)

EMAIL ON MOBILE DEVICES

Anyone who currently checks their email on a mobile device will need to update the password on their mobile device at the same time they change their password on their system. Failure to update your password on your mobile device may lock your account because it will continually attempt to access your email with your old password.

If you have any issues changing your account password contact the STP Service Desk at 800-228-2873 so a technician can assist.
