Making Transcripts of a Story in Media Composer

When you are exporting a transcript. First find the clip that you are wanting to transcribe. Do not do the sequence it will not work.

Once you find the clip right click and find the export transcript.

From there you will save it where ever you want to find it at. It will save as the name of the clip.

There have been some timecode issues from the transcripts from avid. As a reminder you need to use the video clip you want to transcribe.

If you are using a clip that is from a feed, and you make a sub clip, that sub clip timecode will not start at the timecode you clipped it at, it will start at the beginning of the original clip. So, if you need to make a sub clip, you need to make a sub clip of the entire clip, or your timecode will be off.

We found this one out the fun way and will be reaching out to avid to see if this is something they know about, but in the meantime, if you make a transcript, please use the video clip you want transcribed as that works the best.

Any questions please let me know.

Note: If you receive the following error:

"Exception: AvNN Error: 544, checkFinalizeTranscript error: list index out of range"

To resolve: Make a subclip containing only the channel of audio that you want the transcript from. Make sure you use the entire clip length.
