Mapping a network Printer
- Search "Printers & Scanners" in the Start menu.
- Click "Add a printer".
- The printer you want won't be listed. Click "Add manually".
- Select the option for "Select a shared printer by name".
- Type "\\katu-services\" a drop-down list should pop up with the available printer. Find the one you are after, the names aren't too terrible to decipher, click on it.
A box will probably pop up telling you it is installing drivers.
When that is done it will say you have successfully added "[printer name] on katu-services" - Click "next", thenĀ "finish".
The procedure on Windows 10 varies slightly in nomenclature.
OPTIONAL:
By default, Windows will manage your default printer based on the one you used most recently. If you regularly use multiple printers, this may prove to be a detriment. You can follow the steps below to disable this feature.
- Return to the "Printers & Scanners" section in the settings
- At the bottom of the list, turn off "Let Windows manage my default printer".
- Find and click the printer you would like to make your default.
- Click "Set as default".
